OneSite- Account is showing renter insurance charge, but a policy is on the account.

In the ledger, you will see a $50 charge that is from ERenters or RentPlus that has been added due to a lapse in rental insurance, a policy not entered in on time or because the policy was entered incorrectly. In order to make sure this charge wasn't needed, we will need to look over a few things.

1. The rental insurance information added into OneSite:

  • Under the actions tab on the resident's account, you will need to select "Renter's Insurance."

  • From this page, you will need to enter all the information correctly as it shows on the policy that the resident has sent you.

Make sure that the policy document you upload is in date and is uploaded the moment you receive it. When you put it in can sometimes be the reason they are still being charged the $50 due to it not being inserted in time.

  • To see when a policy was uploaded and to make sure it was added in time, you will select the "Insurance Log" button at the bottom left corner.

This will show you when the agent's activity and when the policy was uploaded or any changes that may occur when uploading the rental documents.

IMPORTANT: If you see a rental charge, do not try to reverse the charge. This is charged through a third party and a ticket will need to be submitted in order to get that reversed. If there is a mess up on the ledger or the information was not entered correctly, you will need to provide a copy of the policy showing the dates the policy was active in the ticket so we can send that over to ERenters or RentPlus to reverse the charge on their end.

All charges are backdated. For example, if you received the charge in July, that means there was a lapse in insurance in June. If they added a policy in July, and did not have coverage in June, then the charge would be correct and will need to stay on the ledger.

If you have any questions on Renters Insurance, please reach out by putting in a ticket and we will be happy to assist you.
